will be available.

A SAMPLE COOKING SCHOOL CURRICULUM

Upon arrival, guests are served Peach Tea
and muffins and get a wagon tour of the
Longhorns and gardens. They then arrive
at the Cooking School where our chefs are
preparing the fare of the day. We encourage
our guests to participate! Each one receives
a cooking school bag with recipe book and
miscellaneous gifts from the Ranch. After
the cooking school, the guests stroll over
to the Lazy Lily River House for a Texas
wine tasting and lunch. Followed by an herb
lecture and demonstration and of course, lots
of shopping is available at our Lily Boutique for
jewelry, quilts, cookbooks and other niceties.

The director of our cooking school is, Ranch founder and owner, Marjie Christopher who has authored two Ranch cookbooks: “Rio Cibolo Ranch … a little bit of Texas Cookbook” and “Texas Pecans – The Whole Story, Bits And Pieces.” Marjie is our resident horticulturist and “herbaholic” and is known throughout the greater San Antonio metropolitan area and Texas Hill Country for the numerous presentations she gives to high school groups and other groups that desire to be entertained and learn from her extensive knowledge of cooking with herbs, creating unique centerpieces and other decorations with a Texas flair.

Marjie is a Master Gardener, Master Naturalist and a member of the Audubon Society, and the American Herb Society. She is also the past president of the San Antonio Herb Society and a Docent Aide at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Her landscape at her own house is certified as a wildscape and wildlife habitat. Marjie and her staff are sure to plan an incredible experience at our … “a little bit of Texas” Cooking School.
